III. Catalog Course Description

The beginning-level course is designed to provide instruction that will develop knowledge, basic skills, and positive attitudes towards swimming and aquatics. This course may be repeated once.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate appropriate safety practices
  • Exhale underwater for seconds and inhale above the water in 2 seconds and repeat 10 times without any water entering their mouth or nose
  • Rotary breath on front crawl stroke for 2 yards without any water entering their mouth our nose
  • Float on their stomach and back

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)

Daily Workout includes a 10 minute warm-up, 25 minutes technique instruction, 10 minutes interval training workout varying distances and durations both anaerobic and aerobic and lactate threshold energy systems, last 5 minutes cool down.
