HACT 132 Intermediate Swimming
This is an intermediate swimming course designed to refine technique, increase fitness and endurance, and promote swimming as a lifetime sport. Students will be introduced to the breaststroke, butterfly, flip turns and racing starts. Lab fee required. Prerequisite:
HACT 131 or instructor permission. This course may be repeated once.

III. Catalog Course Description
This is an intermediate swimming course designed to refine technique, increase fitness and endurance, and promote swimming as a lifetime sport. IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate appropriate safety practices
- Perform competition legal breaststroke stroke
- Perform competition legal butterfly stroke
- Perform proper flip turn technique
- Perform proper racing start techniques off competition racing blocks
V. Topical Outline (Course Content)
Daily Workout includes a 10 minute warm-up, 10 to 25 minutes technique instruction, 10 -35 minutes interval training workout varying distances and durations both anaerobic and aerobic and lactate threshold energy systems, last 5 minutes cool down
