CABW 112 Introduction to Cabinetmaking
This course covers the beginnings of cabinetmaking design, layout and box construction. The student will learn industry techniques on how to start a cabinet job from assembling raw materials to reading blueprints to laying out cabinets. This course will also instruct on how to start building cabinet boxes and the special construction associated with cabinetmaking. Instruction will include traditional and European cabinet and furniture cases.

This course covers the beginnings of cabinetmaking design, layout and box construction. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Understand the basics in cabinet box construction and its applications
- Build and design in traditional and European cabinet styles
- Understand layout pertaining to cabinet box constructions as well as construction applications
- Gain knowledge of what is in cabinets and outside of them
- Measure a set of walls in a kitchen and design best method and footage needed
- Measure each cabinet and job accurately to complete a kitchen correctly
- Learn teamwork and leadership within group projects
