Instructor will cover the components and system analysis for heavy duty brake systems including air brakes, hydraulic brakes and electric over hydraulic brakes. Corequisite: DIET 109 Analysis of Hydraulics. Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • demonstrate the proper identification of brake components and understanding of brake systems and ABS
  • demonstrate proper safety standards and in handling the storage and disposal of chemicals and materials in accordance to federal safety and environmental standards
  • properly diagnose brake failure and R&R brake components
  • practice and follow all safety procedures and demonstrate shop cleanliness while working on preventative maintenance
