·       Identify the actors and institutions that shape contemporary politics and policymaking in Southeast Asian countries

·       Evaluate political significance of civil society, civil-military relations, political parties, and electoral systems across the region

·       Distinguish among types of regime and assess the causes and trajectories of regime change

·       Assess the impact of political decision making on domestic and international security challenges
