This course focuses on the contemporary international relations of South East Asia, to include Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Oceania. Prerequisites: None.

Students will learn to
· Identify, describe, and explain patterns of conflict and cooperation involving countries in Southeast Asia
· Characterize the relationship between Southeast Asian countries and the great powers
· Trace the origins and evolution of regional institutions and evaluate their impact on regional diplomacy and security
· Identify major threats to regional security and assess the responses of Southeast Asian countries to them
