THEA-2060 Stage Direction and Management

To be a successful stage director and stage manager, one should possess a range of interpersonal skills: excellent communication, organization, and confidence to lead within a collaborative environment that can be unpredictable. This course will explore the responsibilities of the stage director as interpreter and storyteller as well as the skills required in fulfilling those responsibilities: play analysis, stage composition, visualization and blocking, and rehearsal techniques. In managing the pre-production and rehearsal process, students will gain experience utilizing organizational tools of scheduling and the running of rehearsals, while putting leadership skills into practice.
