THEA-2005 The Horror Film

How can a category of films designed to elicit feelings of dread, apprehension, shock, and terror be so immensely popular? This course examines how the horror genre in film is often dismissed and misunderstood, and yet it is one of the most popular and profitable. The course showcases the foundations of early, cinematic horror, turning points in the genre, and then features some contemporary and various subgenres, exploring diverse voices of horror.
