Welcome from the Interim Dean of Faculty

Welcome to the Catalog for the 2025-26 Academic Year

Since 1891, when The College of Idaho opened its doors, this institution has aimed high. Out graduates have attained great things—distinguished academic achievements, successful careers, and, most important, productive and fulfilling lives. Your entry into the College connects you to this illustrious history. This catalog, then, lays out aspirational goals for students—to become leaders, to find meaning and purpose through education, to become lifelong learners—in addition to outlining the curriculum and policies that will lead to degrees.

The aspirations of our founders translate today into three core themes of the College. First, we hope you will learn through an innovative, transformative experience. Do MORE in 4 enables you to find your own pathway through challenging programs with far-reaching outcomes. You will have the opportunity to combine depth of study in a major with breadth across and connection between disciplines and academic areas in the Coyote Core. Second, learning takes place in a community. Throughout your time at the College, we will talk a lot about what it means to be a responsible member of the community, showing respect and concern for your fellow learners; a resourceful member of the community: creative, innovative, and hard-working; and a reflective member of the community who is capable of understanding your own thoughts and actions and the thoughts and actions of others. You will take this knowledge out of the classroom as you explore questions of career, calling, and community. Finally, this College believes in being good stewards of our environment, our people, and our resources—thinking deeply about the place in which we live and learn, planning carefully for generations who will follow.

This catalog serves as an important guidebook for the adventures ahead. Like most good guides, it will require careful reading. You also have a support network of classmates, faculty, and staff to help you understand the nuances and opportunities contained herein.

I wish you all the best as you discover what it means to be a Yote. Stay curious and take advantage of the rich diversity of educational opportunities available to you. Most of all, make it an experience that will be meaningful to you now and in the years that follow.
