SPA-303 Health Humanities in the Spanish-Speaking World

An introduction to the health humanities in the Spanish-speaking world, providing students interested in health and mental health professions with Spanish language relevant to those pursuits. The health humanities is an interdisciplinary field of study that explores medicine and health through representations of human experiences. Using cultural production such as literature, film, and art, students consider diverse narratives that represent the shifting historical contexts of experience, medical practice, and policy. This course will provide students with necessary tools, including Spanish language and vocabulary, to critically explore narratives of health, illness, and disability.
