NURS4201 PATHOPHYSIOLOGY II
Continuation of the exploration of science, evidence-based practice (EBP) and the biophysical, psychosocial and genetic factors which threaten the homodynamic balance of health and wellness at the cellular, individual, family, community and environmental/global levels. The phenomenon of across the life-span, early life through senescence, occurrences of acute and chronic diseases are defined with particular attention to the integument, muscular-skeletal, sensorial functioning, gastro-intestinal, hepatic, hematologic, and reproductive systems are explored in detail. Nutrition and pharmacology are continued as important factors in the recovery of health and well-being. The importance of issues of vulnerableand diverse populations such as access to health care and the the changing health insurance landscape are introduced. Use of the outcomes of peer-viewed research journals as the basis of critical thinking is required and the valuing of participation in such evidence-based activities and the ethical and legal frameworks for practice is supported.
