Program Overview
Mission:
The program prepares students to analyze microcomputer-oriented operating procedures, software application packages, and hardware in order to devise efficient methods for managing computer-based work environments and supporting technology users. Graduates may seek employment or transition into baccalaureate programs.
Description:
The Computer Information Technology program provides students with technical skills needed to analyze computer operating procedures, software applications, and hardware systems. Students learn to design systems, install equipment, troubleshoot technology, and support IT users. Selected courses prepare students for CompTIA A+, Network+, and Microsoft certifications.
Outcomes:
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Use current techniques, skills, tools, and emerging technologies necessary for computing practices.
- Apply foundational knowledge of project management concepts in technology-related projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of computer hardware and networked environments.
- Demonstrate proficiency with internet structure and web development.
- Design and manage database applications.
- Communicate effectively with technology users and stakeholders.
- Function as a member of a technical team.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors in information technology.
Completion Requirement:
- Earn a grade "C" or better in all program specific and prerequisite courses.
- Complete CET 2154 (face-to-face with hands-on lab components). Students who have earned CompTIA A+ certification may receive credit and complete the remaining program online.
- Complete an internship.
- Online students must locate, arrange, and complete a suitable local internship.
