POEC-3080 The Nature of Money and the Monetary System
This course offers an in-depth exploration of the concept of money and the intricate workings of the United States monetary system. Students will understand money through an interdisciplinary set of lenses--historical, anthropological, economic, political, and social. This course will also understand the evolution of the United States monetary system through the history of the U.S. dollar, the role of the Federal Reserve, monetary policy, and how modern money is created.
