ANSC-3610 Corrections: Incarceration & Supervision
(SELF & SOCIETY) This course provides an in-depth survey of U.S. correctional systems, which include prisons, jails, detention centers, and probation/parole-supervision. Beyond these systems' elements, students will learn about prison gangs, special populations (like sex offenders), problem-solving court programs, and contemporary treatment practices. Students will also engage in debates on the death penalty, inmate rights, abolition, and other contemporary issues. Formerly SOC-310.
