OA3412 Human Systems Integration in the DoD Acquisition Lifecycle

This course further expands on the role of Human Systems Integration within the context of the Department of Defense Systems Engineering Process in the DoD Acquisition Lifecycle. Students examine select acquisition activities (e.g., Joint Capabilities Integration Development System, or JCIDS) and the manner in which HSI practitioners influence these activities. This course also focuses on leveraging the unique activities of HSI practitioners to assist/support program managers and lead systems engineers in developing human-centered systems that optimize total system performance while minimizing cost and risk.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the time you finish this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the acquisition process, to include general entry and exit criteria between acquisition phases.
  • Describe the Human Systems Integration activities/documents used to ensure proper HSI consideration is applied in systems development through acquisition, fielding, sustainment, and closeout.
  • Describe the constraints and limitations to conducting Human Systems Integration in each of the acquisition phases that comprise the integrated lifecycle chart
  • Apply your knowledge of HSI activities/documents to explain how HSI contributes to –and influences – the acquisition of a system.
