HORT 225 Aboriculture*
Arboriculture is the art, science and practice of selecting, establishing and maintaining landscape trees. In addition to preparing students for national Arborist certification, this course is designed to familiarize students with Arboriculture principles and practices and prepare them with necessary skills in tree diagnostics, urban tree management, pest and disease identification and control, tree selection, planting and care, as well as introduce proper work safety. This course will not be offered after the 2021-2022 Academic Year.

- Demonstrate proper pruning practices for trees and shrubs.
- Demonstrate proper use of safety gear and tree care equipment.
- Diagnose tree pests, diseases, and structural issues and recommend treatment.

- Identify and understand tree morphology, physiology and anatomy.
- Tie proper knots and identify gear used in tree care industry.
