III. Catalog Course Description

This course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment for adult and child athletes participating in sports. Students will also learn how to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Students will be able to identify and create plans to eliminate hazardous conditions in various sport environments
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to conduct CPR, rescue breathing, and unconscienced choking interventions for adults, children, and infants
  • Students will demonstrate victim assessment, shock control, bone joint and muscle
  • Conduct a facility safety inspection at an approved athletic site
  • Covering CPR, rescue breathing and unconscious choking for adults, child and infant
  • Injuries, bleeding, heat and cold emergencies
