HIST-2640 Gods, Ghosts, and Monsters in East Asia
(SELF & SOCIETY, ENGAGING DIFFERENCE) This course explores how different cultures in East Asia have conceived of, and related to, the monstrous, ghostly, and divine. These themes are approached through traditional religious texts, images, film, music, and anime and will cover a range of topics, including gods and goddesses, zombies and haunting fetuses, yokai and Godzilla.
