HIST-2610 Global Rock and Roll
(SELF & SOCIETY, ENGAGING DIFFERENCE) This course uses the international embrace of American rock and roll to explore two related historical narratives: first, the reach of American popular culture in the twentieth century, and second, the relationship between popular music and politics. Course materials include documentaries, music journalism, liner notes, and lots of songs. No prior knowledge of music or history is required, but an enthusiasm for either is encouraged.
