This course is designed to fulfill the Plant Identification requirements of Range Management. Students learn the morphology of plants for identification and are able to identify the 70 common range/wildland plants associated with the requirements for REM 351 at the U of I.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Describe and examine characteristics of the major range plant groups
- Describe and examine characteristics used to differentiate plant families
- Devise, construct and critique a herbarium collection
- Justify an identified plant using a dichotomous key
- Outline classifying information of plants common to the Western United States
- Sketch morphological features used to identify plants
