MUSI-4200 Musical Form and Analysis
This class studies modern theories of musical form to better understand how pieces of music are constructed at the smallest and largest scales. Assignments include analyzing complete musical works, studying theories of musical form, and discussing musical form in prose, presentations, and elsewhere. This class focuses primarily on music written in the long-classical era by composers such as Mozart, Hayden, and Beethoven, but also includes study of modern commercial music created by artists such as Taylor Swift, Deadmau5, and more.
