GSM 449 Information Technology Management

Information technology (IT) is changing the face of business. For many firms, IT is the largest capital investment, often exceeding 50% of capital expenditure. Companies have successfully used technology to lower cost structures, increase new levels of customer service, introduce new products or move into new markets. There are also companies that have experienced major technology failures. No longer can the understanding of technology only reside within an Information Systems division. It is critical that executives of every function understand key components of IT in order to be successful in today's world. This is not a technical course. It is a course that provides a foundation for understanding how an IT organization functions, how IT strategy is developed and executed, and how technology trends are influencing corporations.
