MN3340 Requirements Management: From Capability Gap to Acquisition

Requirements Management: From Capability Gap to Acquisition emphasizes the critical role of requirements management in ensuring the successful delivery of capabilities to the warfighter. Through case studies, practical exercises, and discussions, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how capability gaps are identified, prioritized, and addressed through materiel and non-materiel solutions. Additionally, the course will cover the integration of requirements into the Warfighter Acquisition System (WAS) and the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process.

Course Learning Outcomes

Operational need requires a deliberate process to document problems to prioritize, act, and execute with urgency. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the Department of Defense (DoD) requirements process, focusing on the identification, validation, and resolution of capability gaps through the requirements process. Students will learn how to translate operational needs into actionable requirements, evaluate solutions using the DOTmLPF-P framework, and navigate the complex interplay between requirements, acquisition, and resourcing.
