Nursing - Accelerated Second-Degree (B.S.N.) Program Track
The accelerated second-degree B.S.N. may be completed in four consecutive semesters by students who have earned a non-nursing bachelor’s degree. Students admitted to this program have completed a previous baccalaureate degree and are considered to have met the Liberal Arts Core requirements.
Admission Requirements: Students are admitted to this program track in the fall and the spring. Admission to the nursing program is competitive. To be eligible to be reviewed for admission, students must have:
- A non-nursing bachelor’s degree and provide evidence of this degree completion before starting any NU courses. The ATI TEAS requirement was suspended for the Fall 2024 admissions cycle onwards;
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5;
- A minimum science GPA of 2.8 in physical science courses (Anatomy & Physiology I and II with labs, Chemistry with lab and Microbiology with lab) Note: if a course is repeated, both grades are included in this calculation and;
- The submission of a personal statement is required.
Program Prerequisites: These courses or their equivalents must be completed with a minimum grade of C (or its equivalent prior to starting the accelerated second-degree nursing program:
- PSY Human Growth and Development (3 credits);
- Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab (8 credits);
- Microbiology with lab (4 credits);
- General Chemistry with lab (4 credits);
- Human nutrition (3 credits);
- Sociology (3 credits);
- Statistics (3 credits).
These prerequisites must have been completed within 10 years prior to the program start date.

This degree requires a total of 64 credits.

Students in the online ABSN pathway are required to attend on-campus residencies three times during their curriculum in the semesters in which they take courses with lab components (NU 302, NU 231, NU 307, NU 308). Any student repeating a course with a lab component must repeat the corresponding residency.
