PSRT 4209 VOCATIONAL REHAB APPROACHES
A variety of contemporary approaches to the vocational rehabilitation of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness have existed. Supported employment approaches have included integrated work settings, enclaves and work crews. Transitional employment is also traditional and successful model in psychosocial rehabilitation. Career education, "the choose get, keep" model, and supported education will also be addressed. The course will also provide an overview of the practical aspects of these approaches and the research on their efficacy. In addition, there will be an introduction to basic skills associated with these approaches to vocational rehabilitation including job development and coaching skills.
