CJ 4700 JUSTICE & POLICE POWER

This course addresses the rights of suspects and defendants accused of crimes, and the limits of police power. Emphasis on conduct of search and seizure, confessions, eyewitness identification, right to counsel, prosecutorial misconduct, suppression of evidence, fair trial, and the role of the defense counsel. Proportionate sentencing and substantive due process, including the death penalty.
