CJ 4100 TRIAL ADVOCACY

PREREQ: CJ 3685 Substantive Criminal Law, 9 S.H. of CJ Courses, or permission of the instructor; CJ 3700 Proof and Verification in Criminal Justice recommended ENROLLMENT LIMIT: 25 This course provides an examination of the skills necessary to advocate in a criminal trial setting. Through the use of a mock courtroom, students will be introduced to the elements of trial practice and trial advocacy. Trial techniques will be illustrated within the structure of a mock trial and other courtroom-related procedures. Topics will include trial preparation and organization, pretrial motions, jury selection, opening statements, examination of expert and lay witness, introduction of evidence, and closing arguments.
