AH 3740 MODERN ART
The central focus will be the development of modernist painting and sculpture, primarily in Paris, from 1880-1945. The rise of abstraction, art?s relation to the growing urban and technological society, the dialogue between artists and writers, and the new techniques of collage and the readymade will be discussed. The role of the art world will also be evoked. NY museum visit required. Prerequisites: AH 1701, GE 2025 Type of Course: Required for BFA Studio Art, BA in Art History, BA in Fine Art, Elective for all others
