III. Catalog Course Description

A technical course covering the principles of radiology including radiological techniques, animal positioning, darkroom procedures and radiation safety. Alternative imaging methods including ultrasound will be discussed. 

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

• Identify and implement proper safety measures regarding radiation exposure.   
• Position common species (canine, feline, equine and exotics) for radiographs.
• Apply the principles of radiology to real life situations.
• Describe the principles of radiology and be able to real life situations.
• Produce diagnostic radiographs through both digital, manual and hand processing.   
• Perform diagnostic studies including contrast media and ultrasound.   
• Complete AVMA Essential Skills: N104, I1-17.
