SPAN-1003 Spanish for Heritage Speakers

(TEXTS & CONTEXTS, ENGAGING DIFFERENCE) This course is designed for students who have grown up speaking Spanish or who have learned Spanish by living for an extended period of time in a Spanish-speaking country (outside the U.S.), but have not studied Spanish in an academic environment. The course will expand students' linguistic abilities through grammar instruction, vocabulary building, readings and cultural texts from a variety of contexts, and writing assignments. The course may introduce students to Hispanic and Latinx cultures and histories, as well as to other cultural and linguistic communities living within Spanish-speaking societies. Taught in Spanish.
