PHI-307 Social Philosophy
A survey of social debates from a philosophical perspective. A running theme is the nature of equality: What is it, and in what ways should a society strive to manifest it? For example, how should universities address admissions inequality? Other topics might be on gender: What is a woman? Is the concept of gender something we should even retain? Or race: Is it real? Or the nature of disability, money, and institutions: What is a disability? Is bitcoin money? What is the Supreme Court?
