The course is a collaborative venture among the college student, college peers, and a college instructor. Pre-service teachers will work with college peers enrolled in self-paced, preparatory mathematics classes to develop understanding of how math learners grow and develop; demonstrate understanding of the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of college preparatory mathematics; develop skills necessary to make college preparatory mathematics accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the content; and develop and apply a variety of instructional strategies to encourage deep understanding of college preparatory mathematics. Pre-service teachers will complete and discuss instructional strategies logs with members of the Education Department. Formerly MAT-398.
