BIOL-2318 Salmon and Society (Summer Study Away)
(SCIENCE & SOCIETY, SCIENTIFIC REASONING - NO LAB, STUDY AWAY) Salmon and Society Summer Study Away explores the biology, cultural significance, politics, and conservation of salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River drainage. Through a combination of field activities, readings and discussions, meetings with invited experts, and outdoor adventure (paddling, snorkeling, hiking, and fly-fishing), students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the salmon and steelhead crisis. The course consists of two (2-hour) on-line sessions, followed by a 14-day study-away component in the Sawtooth Mountains of central Idaho. Extra fees required.
