POE-300 Constitutional Law I
A deep and complex examination of the principles of American constitutional law through a careful study of Supreme Court decisions. In this course, the role of the judicial branch, the practice of judicial review, separation of powers, congressional and presidential powers, and issues of federalism are examined. Students must have a good understanding of US political institutions prior to taking this course and be able to read and independently make sense of difficult Supreme Court opinions and Court briefs. Due to the demanding nature of this course, at least two years of college experience is highly recommended.
