COMM 239 Documentary Photography

This course explores documentary photography as both artistic practice and political act. Students examine how images shape cultural narratives, influence public discourse, and engage with questions of truth, ethics, and representation. Through readings, discussions, and hands-on assignments, students develop technical and conceptual skills while building a personal approach to visual storytelling. Working in digital or analog formats, students will complete a series of photographic projects culminating in a final long-form piece designed for publication.
