Withdrawal

A student may choose to withdraw from a course up to the 75% point of the term. The student should discuss the withdrawal with his/her advisor and then complete a MCC Add/Drop Form. This form can be obtained in Student Services, printed from the Student Resource Tab in LEO, or printed from the MCC Website. The student will be given a grade of “W.” After that time, a student will not be allowed to withdraw from coursework, except in extreme circumstances, such as a medical emergency. Withdrawal due to an emergency situation must be approved by the Vice President of Academics and Student Services.

Administrative Withdrawal

If a student has not been in contact with the faculty member and has not attended class for a consecutive two-week period, an administrative withdrawal must be submitted by the faculty.

Steps for submitting an Administrative Withdrawal:

  1. Administrative Withdrawal Forms will be available in the Office of Admissions, Records, and Registration.
  2. The faculty member must complete the form with the student’s name, the course and section number, the grade, the last date attended, and the faculty’s signature.
  3. Once completed, the withdrawal form should be returned to the Office of Admissions, Records, and Registration to be documented.
  4. The Director of Admissions, Records, and Registration will provide a copy to the Financial Aid Office to comply with Federal Financial Aid regulations.

Students administratively withdrawn during the first 75% of any given term will receive a grade of “W”, which holds no academic penalty. However, a student who received any Title IV funds for that semester may be in a payback situation.

After the 75% point, a student being administratively withdrawn will be given a grade of “WP,” “WF,” or “WR” according to the average of the student’s grade at the time of the administrative withdrawal. Students who are withdrawn during the quarter of the term who have Title IV funds may also be in a payback situation.

Due to financial reporting, once a student is administratively withdrawn from a course, he/she will not be allowed to reenter the class for that term.

No Show

A student who does not attend a class at least once, or submit an assignment for an online course before the 10% date will receive a grade of “WA.” The “WA” indicates that the student was a "No Show" for the course.
