PAS 6320 SUPERVISED CLINICAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE: GENERAL SURGERY

This 8-week supervised clinical practice experience provides the student with practical experience in the surgical care of patients. Under the supervision of a clinical preceptor, the student will apply knowledge gained in the didactic phase to actual care of patients as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team. The emphasis of this experience will be on the coordination and collaboration of surgical care in the pre-operative and post-operative settings. Students will become familiar with the diagnosis, treatment and management of the surgical patient. Students will participate in the surgical care of the patients and will be evaluated on the knowledge, skills and behaviors expected of a PA student member of the healthcare team in surgery.
