NURS 6200 HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF NURSING EDUCATION
Traces the history of international and American nursing education with an emphasis on pre-and post-Nightingale historical events in society that influenced nursing practice and education. Emphasis on how major changes in health care systems, economics and social roles influence the demand for increasing workforce expertise and numbers. Philosophical schools of thought are examined with the prospect of predicting tomorrow's curricular needs. The integration of process is learner- and results-focused, as well as, patient/client-centered. Ensured is excellence in education through outcome measures which determine quality of the program, and its impact on safe, quality nursing services to all communities.
