ASL 1101 BASIC AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I

Introduction to American Sign Language examines the Deaf Community and its language. Includes exposure to and practice with ASL terms, concepts, fingerspelling, linguistic structure and cultural norms. Emphasis on developing grammatical competence in both expressive (manual) and receptive (visual) communication forms. Field interactions required.
