In this course the students, through disassembly and reassembly, gain knowledge of diesel engines. They learn identification of parts, the use of proper tools, and the importance of shop cleanliness. With the use of precise measuring instruments, they learn how to measure areas of wear pertinent to diesel engines. Prerequisites: Instructor Permission.

In this course the students, through disassembly and reassembly, gain knowledge of diesel engines. They learn identification of parts, the use of proper tools, and the importance of shop cleanliness. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- demonstrate the proper wayto disassemble and reassemble diesel engines
- demonstrate the proper safety procedures and the importance of shop cleanliness
- be in constant communication with instructor during reassembly and will keep a dialogue of what occurs
- be able to properly identify parts, on various diesel engines
- be able to demonstrate the proper use of tools and special equipment
- demonstrate the proper use of measuring instruments
- learn how to measure areas of wear pertinent to diesel engines
- learn how to complete proper installation of new parts as needed and installed using the proper service manual procedures
- after an engine is assembled the students will use proper starting procedures and run engine
- learn how to properly diagnose engine failures
- complete final assessment with a "C" grade or higher
