This course provides fundamental information about reproduction and breeding of domestic animals. Topics include functional anatomy, basic physiology, and endocrinology relating to reproduction.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Identify relevant anatomical structures of male and female reproductive anatomy
- List relevant hormones and describe how they function in normal reproductive physiology
- Evaluate methods of reproductive cycle manipulation in the basic livestock species and make recommendations based upon local factors
- Identify anatomical structures related to lactation and describe normal lactational physiology
- Read, comprehend, and discuss current, peer-reviewed scientific literature
- Write a thorough review of scientific literature, summarizing the key concepts
