HST211 Hospitality Law
This course provides students with a practical knowledge of the laws and regulations that influence business and management decisions in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Topics include agency, contracts, negligence, health and safety issues, competition, privacy, premises liability, employee and guest relations, crimes, the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as ethical issues related to the hospitality industry. The legal environment and issues of the hotel, restaurant, and travel industries will be identified and analyzed to enable students to determine ways to prevent and respond to situations with real and potential legal ramifications and to effectively work with legal counsel as needed.
