Course Learning Outcomes

  • Students will learn to use and navigate UNIX based systems (e.g., Mac, Linux).
  • Familiarization with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code and development platforms such as GitHub/GitLab.
  • Students will learn to team with generative AI to develop code.
  • Learn fundamentals of using computer logic to translate an outline of desired operations into computer code.
  • Familiarization with developing code to accomplish common tasks in meteorology and oceanography such as and reading/writing data, executing computations on that data, and plotting one-dimensional and multi-dimensional data.
