Course Learning Outcomes

As this is a course accommodating multiple possible topics, the following outcomes present general guidance to ensure that students gain a strong foundation in applied mathematics.

  • Understand and apply mathematical concepts: Students will be able to understand and apply topic specific mathematical concepts and techniques to solve real-world problems relevant to the Department of the Navy (DoN) and the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Develop problem-solving skills: Students will enhance their problem-solving skills by tackling new complex mathematical problems that complement the students’ existing knowledge.
  • Communicate mathematical ideas effectively: Students will learn to communicate mathematical ideas and solutions effectively, both in written and oral forms, to a variety of audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adapt to new mathematical challenges: Students will be prepared to adapt to new mathematical challenges and continuously update their knowledge and skills to stay current with advancements in applied mathematics.
