MGT 270 Hospitality Management Operations
The field of hospitality management addresses the business operations of running hotels, restaurants and other travel and tourism related businesses. This course, Managing Hospitality Operations, builds upon the concepts put forth MGT 170 – Hospitality Management. While MGT 170 introduces students to the breadth of the hospitality industry from a managerial perspective, MGT 270 operationally focuses on the importance of, and the management of, the hospitality service experience. This study of the creation and implementation of a superior service experience can be broken down into three general categories. First, the formulation of a service strategy; second, the hospitality service staff; and third, the hospitality service delivery experience. A basic premise of the course is that superior customer service can offer businesses, across the broad spectrum of the hospitality industry, a sustainable competitive advantage. Prerequisite: MGT 170. (3)
