MGT 170 Hospitality Management
This course is an introduction to the field of hospitality management. Hospitality management focuses on the business operations of running hotels, restaurants and other travel and tourism-related businesses. Students will address the growth and importance of the travel and tourism sector. Concerning the restaurant industry, students will examine market segmentation and differentiation, the various types of restaurant organizational structures, and efficient and effective restaurant operations. Concerning the hotel industry, students will examine the evolution and classification of hotel properties, the economic principles driving the business operations in the hotel industry, and marketing segmentation and differentiation factors. Additionally, the importance of the concept of service throughout the hospitality management industry will be examined. (3)
