CE 545 Positive Psychology in Counseling
Psychology encompasses the study of positive experience, positive character strengths, and the institutions and practices that facilitate their development. This course reviews the history of positive psychology and the contributions of this new field to psychology as well as its specific application to counseling. Consideration will be given to the benefits of balancing positive with negative emotions and the measurement and the development of satisfaction and meaning in life. Through experiential exercises and exploration of empirical research, the course is designed to recognize a life worth living and examine how positive psychology approaches in counseling build resilience in life.
