2024-2025 Undergraduate Catalog

New Jersey State Programs

The New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) administers several financial aid programs for New Jersey residents who are enrolled full-time in undergraduate programs. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for most New Jersey Financial Aid programs in addition to other documents.

New Jersey Dreamers must complete the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application through HESAA, not the FAFSA, for State Aid consideration. Qualified students must also submit a NJ Dream Act Application and Affidavit to Kean’s Office of Admissions (incoming students) or Registrar (continuing).

NOTE: Students must respond directly to HESAA when requested to submit additional information or documents via NJFAMS.

Tuition Aid Grant (TAG)

TAG is available to full-time matriculated undergraduates who have been New Jersey residents at least 12 consecutive months prior to the beginning of the term. The award amount is determined by the cost of tuition and the applicant’s eligibility index as calculated by HESAA. Students whose enrollment includes courses at other institutions may not receive TAG even though they may be considered full-time.

New Jersey STARS II

The NJ STARS II program enables successful NJ STARS scholars from two-year NJ community colleges to transfer to a four-year NJ college or university and earn a bachelor’s degree with part of their tuition and/or fees paid by this grant: up to $2,500 per year. Students whose enrollment includes courses at other institutions may not receive NJSTARS even though they may be considered full-time.  For more details, log in to www.hesaa.org or call 1-800-792-8670.

Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF)

Grants from state funds of up to $1,950 annually are awarded to students enrolled on a full-time basis in Kean University’s EOF Program.

Governor’s Urban Scholarship

This scholarship program is for students who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and resided in one of New Jersey’s urban and economically-distressed areas while attending high school. Candidates are nominated for consideration by their high schools. Scholarship awards are up to $1,000 per year.

Garden State Guarantee (GSG)

As part of the New Jersey College Promise, the Garden State Guarantee (GSG) provides a net tuition and fees price of $0 to full-time resident juniors and seniors attending a four-year public NJ institution and with a family AGI of up to $65,000. Families with AGIs between $65,001 and $80,000 pay a discounted net price of up to $7,500 for the year, and those with AGIs from $80,001 and $100,000 pay up to $10,000 per year.
