Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, Post Master’s - Certification
Program Description
The Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant [LDTC] Post-Master’s Certification is designed for the experienced teacher who wants to advance to a position on a Child Study Team. Its purpose is to develop competent, capable, completely prepared LDTC professionals to function effectively in a variety of settings diagnosing, assessing and remediating individuals who require special services.
The program design includes specific competencies, presented sequentially in light of the background and experience of the candidate. The curriculum integrates past experiences and knowledge with current practices while defining and shaping skills for the future professional. Ethical considerations for clients as well as the value of each individual are highlighted. This program meets the standards of the New Jersey Department of Education.
Admission Requirements
In Addition to the University’s Admissions requirements:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Official transcripts from all institutions attended

Minimum of three years of teaching experience with valid New Jersey standard instructional certificate. A letter from the candidate’ school administrator must be provided on letterhead documenting teaching experience.

A writing sample (1-2 pages in length) which detail the candidate's desire to pursue this certification and future goals

Professional resume or Curriculum Vitae

TOEFL(for applicants whose native language is not English)
A departmental interview may be required.
Transfer of Credits
A maximum of two courses from a regionally accredited institution of higher education may be accepted, providing credits are within six years of previous graduate work. Course descriptions must be submitted with application.
Kean University Credits
Courses previously taken at Kean may be accepted if they fall within the six year limit of previous graduate work. Acceptance of any transfer credits are pending review by the program representative.
