Spanish Speaking Program

(SSP) Spanish Speaking Program/Programa Hispano

The program provides access to higher education to Hispanic students with Limited English Proficient students. Students are offered college courses taught in Spanish during the first two years of their curriculum. These courses allow the students to make progress in their studies while they acquire the necessary knowledge of English through the English as a Second Language Program (ESL). Academic advisement and support services are provided by the Spanish Speaking Program Academic Advisors. In order to be eligible for the program, the student must have been enrolled in ESL courses while attending High School for at least one year. The student must also have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application for admission. SAT/ACT is not required for admission into the Spanish Speaking Program. Students who studied outside of the United States must have their transcripts evaluated and translated by an N.A.C.E.S- accredited foreign credential evaluation agency. A course-by-course evaluation is required that identifies and describes each diploma or certificate, indicates periods of education, and provides an equivalency to a U.S. high school diploma for each document. Cumulative GPA must be included.
